His Excellency the Minister of Education, Mr. Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan, met today with several university presidents, institute heads, and research center leaders in the People’s Republic of China, accompanied by the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to China, Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Harbi, and the Deputy Minister for International Cooperation, Dr. Nasser Al-Aqeeli. This meeting is part of His Excellency’s ongoing visit to China, which seeks to explore new avenues for fruitful collaboration that will enhance the development of educational and research systems in both friendly countries.
The meeting centered on exploring methods to deepen and expand the strategic partnership between educational and research institutions in the kingdom and their Chinese counterparts. The two parties also discussed ways to enhance academic and research cooperation, exchange expertise in postgraduate studies, support collaboration in research, development, and innovation, and link Saudi universities with globally advanced Chinese research centers to facilitate the exchange of skills and knowledge. Additionally, they considered increasing cooperation in medical education and training between specialized institutions in both countries.
The Minister of Education discussed promising investment opportunities in the kingdom’s public and private university education sector through the “Invest in Saudi” platform with the presidents of Chinese universities, institutes, and research centers. He also explored strategies to encourage Chinese universities and educational institutions to invest in the kingdom, considered the potential for developing specialized programs for teaching the Chinese language, and emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise and experiences in curriculum development. All of these initiatives would contribute to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
The meeting also included an overview of the scholarship program offered by the Saudi government for Chinese students through the “Study in Saudi Arabia” platform. Additionally, the meeting emphasized the expanding opportunities for Saudi students to gain admission into prestigious graduate programs at Chinese universities.
