His Excellency, the Minister of Education, Mr. Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan, met today in Beijing with his Chinese counterpart, Professor Huai Jinpeng, during his official visit to China. The Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Harbi, and the Deputy Minister for International Cooperation, Dr. Nasser Al-Aqeeli, were present at the meeting.
The meeting focused on enhancing partnerships in both countries’ general and university education sectors. It explores new opportunities for collaboration and exchanging expertise that would contribute to developing the education system. Furthermore, it addressed the execution of the provisions outlined in the memorandum of cooperation signed by the two ministries. The meeting also resulted in an agreement to form a joint working group to facilitate communication and procedures and explore the potential for concluding detailed implementation programs.
The two parties discussed the provisions of the memorandum of understanding they would sign, which pertains to Chinese curricula for intermediate and secondary school education. They explored collaboration to train Saudi teachers in teaching Chinese within Saudi general education schools and examined ways to leverage China’s experience to enhance courses related to gaming. Additionally, they discussed strengthening partnerships between Saudi and Chinese universities and research centers in the areas of scientific research, graduate education, scholarships, and medical training collaborations.
The meeting reviewed investment opportunities available to Chinese investors in the kingdom’s education sector through the “Invest in Saudi” platform, emphasizing the most significant prospects in Chinese language education, e-learning, research, development, and innovation. Additionally, the Saudi side introduced the Saudi scholarship program for Chinese students, which is accessible through the “Study in Saudi” platform. The two parties also discussed the mechanisms for activating Chinese scholarships and the executive scholarship program, which aims to enhance opportunities for Saudi students to secure seats at prominent Chinese universities.
